New Book on "Historic Irvington"
"Historic Irvington," a recently published pictorial history book of Irvington will be previewed by the author Mrs. Julie Young, Wednesday, August 20th, 11:30 am at the Golden Coral Restaurant, 10220 E. Washington St. Autographed volumes will be available. This is an excellent publication one that you will want to become acquainted with. Your host: East Side Optimist Club.

Our Lady of Lourdes Chess Club Hosts Public Tournament
Our Lady of Lourdes Chess Club will host its next tournament on Monday, April 28th. Arrive any time between 3:05 and 3:55. It ends at 5:30 and is in the cafe. Easter egg hunt March 22nd @ 4:00 at Waters of Irvington, 344 S Ritter Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Children ages 2-10 can enjoy an egg hunt with the Easter Bunny in attendance. 15th Annual Hope Fund Benefit

A Taste of the Irvington Area and Silent Auction
Saturday, April 26, 2008, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Irvington Community School, 6705 E. Julian Avenue
Ticket cost: $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Children 12 and under free.

The 15th Annual Hope Fund Benefit will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Irvington Community School, 6705 E. Julian Avenue (just south of the Aldi’s on East Washington Street). The main features of the event are A Taste of the Irvington Area and a silent auction.

Eight area food purveyors are included in this year’s A Taste of the Irvington Area. will present samplings from their menus. Participating restaurants include: Dufour’s, Legends, Edibles, and the Tie-Dye Grill. Hart Bakery and Alan’s Catered Events are also included. New this year are the Irvington Starbucks and Papa Roux.

Once again, the silent auction will be the centerpiece of the fundraiser. Hundreds of items will be available to bid on, including jewelry, gift baskets, artwork, crafts from local artisans, autographed books by area authors and gift certificates ranging from salon services to summer camp, carriage rides to car washes, and fine dining to dry cleaning.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Music will be provided by Celtic Spirit, an area fiddle and guitar duo.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit The Hope Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that assists the clients of Hope Counseling Ministry who cannot afford the Ministry’s lowest fee. Hope Counseling Ministry is supported by seven area churches and has been part of Indianapolis’s eastside community since 1991. Its mission is to provide spiritually grounded therapy by professionally trained therapists regardless of clients’ income, background, or faith.
